Fiestra Patrias - Independence Day (July)
Arguably the biggest and most celebrated of all annual events in Peru. Independence Day occurs on the 27th July each year. Street processions, parades, speeches and fireworks set the tone for this day of unadulterated celebrations.
Procession of the Lord of Miracles
Known locally as the El Señor de los Milagros, this is deeply religious festival where a well-preserved artwork of Christ is paraded through the streets along with chanting and the burning of insence. It's an incredible sight and is accompanied by food stalls, entertainment and merriment.
Carnavales
Celebrated as it is in all of South America around Mardi Gras, Carnavales is a great time to be in the city. Expect to be hit with a water balloon as you dance your way through the streets.
Señor de los Milagros Bullfight Festival (November)
This world famous bullfighting festival takes place at the Plaza deb Toros de Acho every Sunday throughout November.
