Take in the Natural Beauty
One of the great wonders of the natural world - The Great Barrier Reef - surrounds the island. There are organised day trips to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, where you can see whales migrating through the warm waters between July and September each year. You can swim, snorkel or scuba dive in the reef, experiencing one of the worlds most spectacular natural wonders. For a more relaxing time whilst on the island, you can take one of the many bush walks around the shoreline, exploring unspoilt nature trails and secluded cove hideaways. For something different, the island boast a koala gallery where it is possible to have breakfast with the koalas. An experience unique to Australia.
For the Thrill Seekers
An abundance of water sports are available, from snorkelling in the exquisite waters to sailing with the Hamilton Island yacht club. For thrill seekers, you can try sea kayaking, or helicopter rides over the island, taking in the view of the reefs from above.
