Take to the Skies with this Award-Winning Airline

Founded in 1993, Qatar Airways is the flag carrier airline of Qatar. State-owned and operated, this far-reaching airline began life in the early 1990s, commencing operations in 1994 with a small staff of only 75 people. During these early days, the operator had only two aircraft in its fleet, however, these twin Airbus A310s provided an exotic network of routes with destinations including Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Dubai, London, Muscat and Tokyo. Later on in 1995, the airline purchased two further aircraft to add to its fleet, with a further Boeing 747SP to join the following year.

With a growing fleet and steady growth in passenger numbers, Qatar Airways added several key world capitals to their roster and the airline and its fortunes flourished. As the fleet size soared and even more international destinations were added to its roster, Qatar Airways became a go-to for cross-continental travel, linking more than 150 destinations throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Far East, the Americas and Oceania.

The airline currently has a fleet size of more than 180 aircraft and employees more than 40,000 people worldwide. The operator made history in 2013 when it became the first member state of the Gulf region to join one of the three prestigious airline alliances, Oneworld. It also proves to be incredibly popular with passengers and industry experts, winning the coveted prize for "World's Best Airline" several times.
