Exploring the South Pacific with Air Vanuatu

Air Vanuatu Airlines was founded in 1981 after the country became an independent nation. It was initially created as a joint venture between an existing airline and the Government of Vanuatu, and the first flight left Sydney for Port Villa in September 1981. From there the airline has expanded to cover a range of both domestic and international routes.

For the first time, more people were able to visit the small island nation in the Pacific at a much lower cost than previously, and people who lived in Vanuatu were able to access more affordable and convenient air travel between islands and to Australia and New Zealand. Now, 28 domestic routes cover the 5 main islands of Vanuatu and International destinations include Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands.

Today the company's fleet consists of 7 aircraft including a Boeing 737-800 and they have recently expanded to include connections with partner airlines to destinations in America and Europe, ensuring them a place as one of the Pacific's most popular and accessible airlines.

Flying with Air Vanuatu

Domestic and regional flights that visit the islands of Vanuatu are operated by the airline's ATR72-500 aircraft that offers comfort for the short flights.
International customers receive a full-class economy service, which includes entertainment, meals and bar service as well as plenty of smiles and the well-known local hospitality. Business class airfares offer travellers 5-course meals, French wines and 5-star comfort all the way to their destination.
